The electromagnetic actuator device (12) has coils (10a,10b) that are arranged in winding chambers of a bobbin (14). The coils are connected to a drive circuit such that the coils are driven independently and voltages of the coils are determined independently. The coils are contacted by plug connectors provided at the bobbin. The socket contact of the plug connector is extended out through aperture formed in the housing. An independent claim is included for method for operating electromagnetic actuator device.
