<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that includes an image reading device that detects size and direction of a document that is set in a document set portion of an automatic document conveyance device with the use of solar batteries arranged in the document set portion; and allows the image reading device to detect open/close state of a scanner portion of the automatic document conveyance device so as to reduce costs relating to the open/close detection of the automatic document conveyance device. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus detects open/close state of a scanner portion of an automatic document conveyance device 12 based on change of the amount of power generation of at least one of solar batteries that is not shielded with a document from among the solar battery group SB that is arranged in a document set portion 121 of the automatic document conveyance device 12, relative to the default amount of the power generation of the at least one of the solar batteries while the automatic document conveyance device is in a closed state. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
