<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient device for transporting sample racks of different formats between various work cells in an analytical instrument. <P>SOLUTION: A junction 15 for transporting sample racks 4 and 4' having different sizes comprises: a plurality of main transport lines 8 and 9; a turntable 6 provided with rotatable transport lines 11 and 12 which are coupled to the main transport lines in a manner to be alternately connected to the main transport lines and/or to interconnect at least the two main transport lines; and one or more bypass transport lines 14, each of which interconnects the two main transport lines while bypassing the turntable and being curved in a manner to enable transport of the smaller sample racks 4' and disable transport of the bigger sample racks 4 and each of which is coupled with at least one controllable main/bypass line switch 18 operable to guide or keep the sample racks 4'. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
