摘要 The present invention relates to an access node (100) for providing broadband communication services to subscribers. In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, the access node comprises a first transceiver unit (101) for initializing a first communication channel (CH1) over a first communication line (L1) and a second transceiver unit (102) for subsequently initializing a second communication channel (CH2) over a second communication line (L2), which initialization of the first and second communication channels respectively comprising first and second handshake phases (HS1, HS2) whereby peer transceiver units exchange capabilities and select a common mode of operation, first and second crosstalk channel acquisition phases (XT_ACQ1, XT_ACQ2) from the first and second communication lines into further active communication lines (Lx), and further first and second generic initialization phases. The access node further comprises a line initialization controller (111) configured to stretch the execution of the first handshake phase with respect to the execution of the second handshake phase so as to shorten a time difference (”t12) between respective entries into the first and second crosstalk channel acquisition phases. The present invention also relates to a method for initializing communication channels over communication lines.
