<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid the growth of a slag metal ingot by preventing adhesion of slag metal to a carrying roll 11. <P>SOLUTION: A continuous casting 5 carried by a plurality of carrying rolls 11 is laterally cut by a cutting machine which moves synchronously with the continuous casting 5. The device includes: a retreating means which retreats the carrying roll 11 over which a cutting position S by the cutting machine is passed from a carrying position T to a retreat position R; and a rotation failure detection means which detects a rotation failure of the carrying rolls 11. The retreating means temporarily stops the cutting operation by the cutting machine while the cutting position S is passed over the carrying roll 11 of which the rotation failure is detected by the rotation failure detection means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
