In order to acquire an image to generate multiple view-differences, it has been necessary to provide a complex imaging optical system corresponding to the number thereof. In order to resolve the above problem, an imaging element is provided which is equipped with photoelectric conversion elements arranged two-dimensionally so as to convert incident light photoelectrically to an electric signal, aperture masks established so as to correspond one-to-one to each of the photoelectric conversion elements, and color filters established so as to correspond one-to-one to each of the photoelectric conversion elements, wherein among n (n is an integer greater than or equal to 3) adjacent photoelectric conversion elements, the apertures of the aperture masks provided so as to correspond to at least 3 thereof are included within one pattern of color filter patterns configured by at least two types of color filters which transmit mutually different wavelength bands, and are positioned so as to pass each of light beams from mutually different partial areas within cross-sectional areas of the incident light, and such that photoelectric conversion element groups in which n photoelectric conversion elements are treated as one set are consecutively arranged.
