摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize (to make a maximum high compression ratio) setting of a compression ratio during a low load operation according to width of an operation region while securing responsiveness of a change in a compression ratio accompanying a change in load in the operation region since the setting of the compression ratio in relation to each operation point is changed according to the width of the operation region. <P>SOLUTION: This internal combustion engine includes a variable compression ratio mechanism which can continuously change an engine compression ratio, and operation state detection processing is executed (S1), use load region change processing is executed (S2), and compression ratio change processing is executed. Namely, the setting of the compression ratio in relation to each operation point determined by engine speed and load of the internal combustion engine is changed according to an operation condition (a first operation mode or a second operation mode) selected by an operator to achieve optimization of the setting of the compression ratio during the low load operation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
