<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make operation quality of a timepiece movement not depend upon its orientation in a space. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a method of determining an orientation of a timepiece component made of a magnetic/electrostatic material. On both sides of the component, two magnetic/electrostatic fields attract the component to pole pieces respectively, there is imbalance in intensity between the fields around the component to generate a difference in force to the component, and while one end is pressed against a contact surface of one pole piece, the other end is kept a certain distance away from the other pole piece. There is provided a magnetic/electrostatic pivot including such a component having two ends. The pivot includes a guide device having surfaces of the two pole pieces, which are attracted respectively by the magnetic/electrostatic fields that one end passes. Or a magnetic/electrostatic field which attracts one end is generated, magnetic/electrostatic forces applied to the two ends are different in intensity, and only one end is attracted to be brought into contact with only one pole piece surface. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
