FIELD: process engineering. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to welding and may be used in reconditioning and hardening worn-out steel part by electric contact welding of medium-carbon steel band to steel part. Medium-carbon steel band is subjected to preliminary thermal treatment. First, complete annealing is performed. Note here that fine grains are obtained in part structure with uniform distribution of ferrite grains. Then, high tempering is effected. After removing scale, said treated band is welded to steel part being reconditioned. ^ EFFECT: decreased crack formation, higher quality of welding.
