PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain a density of isolated points by reducing banding through control of density fluctuation caused by sparse or dense dots.

SOLUTION: A scanning line position calculation part 104 calculates an error in a vertical scanning direction of scanning line position of a current line on an image carrier. A scanning line position storage part 105 uses the calculated error to update information showing the respective scanning line positions of the current line and a previous line with respect to the current line. A scanning line interval calculation part 106 uses the updated information showing the scanning line positions to calculate an interval between an attention dot on the current line and a dot around the attention dot. A dot pattern acquisition part 107 acquires a dot pattern around the attention dot. A correction factor calculation part 108 and an exposure amount correction part 109 control an exposure amount of the attention dot based on the interval and the dot pattern.
