Provided is a method of manufacturing glass substrates, which can block impurities from being mixed into molten glass during a refining process of the molten glass. The method of manufacturing glass substrates comprises: a melting process which heats raw materials of glass and forms molten glass; a refining process which refines the molten glass; and a forming process which forms glass substrates from the molten glass. During the refining process, the molten glass flows inside a refining tube which is made of platinum or platinum alloy, so as to form a gaseous space which is the space above the surface of the molten glass. The refining tube protrudes outward from an exterior wall and has a ventilation tube through which platinum-containing gas flows, wherein the gas exists in the gaseous space. In the ventilation tube, a measurement tube is installed to introduce gas and make a measurement. An oxygen concentration meter is connected to the measurement tube and measures concentration of oxygen in the gas. The longitudinal section of the end part of an opening in the side of introducing gas is inclined with respect to the longitudinal direction of the measurement tube. |
