Described is a container with ventilation means and a method for sealing a lid without damaging or weakening the container. The container, such as a glass, includes ventilation means in the inner surface of the lateral wall of said container, which are generally adjacent to a lid seal for allowing the air, which would be otherwise forced to enter and trapped in the container where the lid is sealed, to be ventilated from the container so as to avoid weakness, damage or final flaws in the container.
