A trolley for handling concrete building elements comprises a guide frame 11 which is pivoted at 46 to a wheeled chassis 10 and on which sliders 30, 31 are movable under the action of a winch and cable 19. The lower slider 30 is connected by a cable 47 to the slider 31 which is provided with a clamp device for securing a building element between friction surfaces 41, 42. Releasable latches are provided for holding the frame 11 either substantially horizontal or substantially vertical. In operation, the trolley is located on the joist frame of the building and the frame 11 is turned and locked in the horizontal position. A crane transfers a building element from a lorry to the frame 11 on which it is secured by the clamp device 41, 42. The frame 11 is then released and rotates towards the vertical position during which rotation the winch cable raises the sliders 30, 31 along the frame 11. The trolley is then moved to its destination and the building element is lowered on to the joist frame by operation of the winch.
