<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a braking device that does not give an uncomfortable feeling to a driver, accurately detects a vehicle behavior against the driver's will due to an erroneous pedal operation, improper setting of a shift lever and the like, and can provide optimal braking force at an optimal timing. <P>SOLUTION: If a traveling state determination module detects a forward position and determines that accelerator pedal depressing speed is equal to or more than a first speed threshold Vf, and if a panic state determination module detects a driver's panic state, the braking device brakes the vehicle using given braking power.
