<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle drive device enhancing the on-vehicle mountability in a configuration having a motor, a speed reduction section and a differential section. <P>SOLUTION: The vehicle drive device includes the motor 21 outputting rotational power, the speed reduction section 22 outputting the rotational power from the motor 21 while reducing the same in speed, the differential section 24 distributing and outputting the rotational power from the speed reduction section 22 toward a pair of wheels 14, 15, and a power transmission mechanism 23 connecting and disconnecting a power transmission path between the motor 21 and the wheels 14, 15.
