This fuel cell comprises: an electrolyte membrane (121); first and second catalyst layers (123, 122) formed on the surfaces of the electrolyte membrane; first and second catalyst layers (123, 122); and first and second reinforcing layers (140, 130) sandwiching the electrolyte membrane (121) and the first and second catalyst layers (123, 122). The first catalyst layer (123) and the first reinforcing layer (140) are joined with a force equal to or greater than a local bonding force capable of controlling thermal expansion and contraction of the electrolyte membrane. The second catalyst layer (122) and the second reinforcing layer (130) are joined with a force less than the local bonding force capable of releasing the stress of expansion and contraction of the electrolyte membrane, or the second catalyst layer and second reinforcing layer are not joined. |
