The vibration type measuring transformer (4) has a vibration system with a measuring pipe (26) for guiding a medium. The medium is simulated to mechanical vibrations by an exciter (D) and is assigned to vibration sensors (S1,S2) for detection mechanical vibrations of the vibration system. Another vibration system has another measuring pipe (28) for guiding the medium that is assigned to vibration sensors (S3,S4) for detecting mechanical vibration of latter vibration system. Independent claims are also included for the following. (1) a flow meter with an electronic unit; and (2) a method for detecting a local impurity carried in a medium flowing in a pipe.
