Compounds of the formula <FORM:0995398/C2/1> wherein R is an hydrogen atom or an alkyl group having from 1 to 3 carbon atoms, and non-toxic acid-addition salts thereof, are prepared by the interaction of an appropriate amine with sodium dicyanimide in a lower alkanol solvent in the presence of mineral acid. Suitable solvents are iso-propanol, and n-butanol. Suitable acids are H2SO4, H3PO4.
