[Also in Division B3] An overload-release coupling, particularly for use on a draw bench, comprises a gear pinion 7a integral with a drive shaft 7 and meshing with rack teeth 10a incorporated in a hollow fluid pressure piston-cylinder member 10 in the hub portion 11 of a gear pinion 8, the pressure liquid being exhausted from cylinder 10 upon overload occurring to allow disengagement of teeth 7a, 10a. In the arrangement shown a pump 22, in addition to supplying the draw coupling 30, also supplies cylinder 10 through a non-return valve 27, a relief valve 29 operating upon overload to exhaust cylinder 10. For two-way drive a pair of opposed cylinders 10 with separate relief valves are employed, Fig. 8 (not shown). |
