The invention relates to a control valve (1) for a cam shaft adjuster, comprising a valve housing (5) and a control piston (3, 51, 81, 121), which is designed as an injection-molded product and is axially movable mounted within the valve housing (5) and which has a substantially tubular main body (7, 53, 85, 123), wherein the control piston (3, 51, 81, 121), on an end face (9, 55, 87, 126), has an actuating surface (13, 59, 91, 127) for a control component. To this end, the control piston (3, 51, 81, 121) comprises, at an end thereof, an axially extending molded-on component (11, 57, 89, 125) which comprises a gate point (17, 61, 93, 95, 131) on one of the lateral faces (15, 63, 97, 99, 129) thereof. Such a design of a control valve (1) allows the control piston to be securely guided within the valve housing (5) at low manufacturing cost of the control piston (3, 51, 81, 121).
