An apparatus and method of a video device provide a stereoscopic effect to a user to provide a 3 Dimensional (3D) video. The apparatus includes a 3D glasses recognition unit and a controller. The 3D glasses recognition unit determines a posture of a user who watches a stereoscopic video. The controller provides control to change the stereoscopic effect of the stereoscopic video according to the posture of the user determined by the 3D glasses recognition unit.
