<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an acoustic wave element which can widen the pass band width in the amplitude characteristics of a filter. <P>SOLUTION: In the acoustic wave element 10, the main surface 12 and the rear surface 13 of a piezoelectric substrate 11 are subjected to mirror polishing, and an input interdigital electrode 14 and an output interdigital electrode 15 are provided on the main surface 12. A bulk wave 16 radiated from the input interdigital electrode 14 is reflected on the rear surface 13 and received by the output interdigital electrode 15.
