The invention relates to a method for determining the spatial position of an apparatus having a rotating magnetic dipole using at least one three-axis magnetic field sensor, wherein the magnetic field emitted by the magnetic dipole is measured by the magnetic field sensor and is evaluated in order to determine the position coordinates in a three-axis coordinate system, wherein at least two individual measurements are carried out and are distinguished by a different relative position between the axis of rotation of the dipole and the position vector which extends between the dipole and the magnetic field sensor, wherein these different relative positions do not result from a movement of the apparatus.
