<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device having a constitution in which a high refractive index component provided between a solid-state light emitting element and air and having an uneven structure on a surface on a side in contact with air can be reused. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitting device includes: a translucent substrate having a refractive index of 1.6 or more; a solid-state light emitting element including a light emitting region having a refractive index of 1.6 or more, on one surface of the substrate; and a translucent component having a refractive index of 1.6 or more, on the other surface of the substrate.
