The method involves limiting input current (I1-In) of input signals (S1-Sn) with respect to device-internal intermediate potential (Uz) during termination of the input signals that are applied to an electrical/electronic device. Power is device-internally generated by current flowing to earth through the intermediate potential. The power is provided as power output for supporting device-internal voltage-/current supply. The power is supplied to an evaluation device for evaluating the input signals. The intermediate potential lies between a potential (Ub) and the earth. An independent claim is also included for a device for power recovery.
