<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide photoacoustic diagnostic imaging equipment which generates an image enabling identification of target tissue. <P>SOLUTION: A light source 13 irradiates a subject with light. An ultrasonic probe 11 includes an ultrasonic transducer. In a reference waveform database 21, body tissue and a reference waveform corresponding to a photoacoustic signal from the body tissue are stored in such a manner as to correspond to each other. A reference waveform selecting means 20 acquires the reference waveform, which is stored in such a manner as to correspond to the body tissue as an identification target, from the reference waveform database 21. A convolution means 25 convolves the acquired reference waveform with a received waveform based on the photoacoustic signal detected by the ultrasonic probe. A convolution image construction means 26 generates a convolution image on the basis of data with the convolved reference waveform.
