PURPOSE: A method for authenticating a multi-band multi-mode terminal supporting heterogeneous communication networks and a terminal device using the same are provided to improve a dual authentication processing structure of a multi mode terminal. CONSTITUTION: A communication module(110) supports at least one communication network with an authentication system. The communication module comprises a plurality of modems which is connectable to a plurality of heterogeneous networks. An authentication module(120) performs authentication through the communication network with the authentication system. A connection restricting module(130) restricts connection to all communication networks of the communication module when authentication of the authentication module fails. The authentication module authenticates a subscriber and a terminal.
