摘要 A method and a system for providing a fail-safe algorithm for an electronic power steering system are provided to realize the fail-safe algorithm by sensing resistance of a motor and current applied to an inductor. A system for providing a fail-safe algorithm comprises a motor(170) a current sensor(210) and an electronic control unit. The motor(170) provides power by sensing the movement of a steering wheel of a vehicle. The current sensor(210) measures a value of current applied to the motor. The electronic control unit stores the current value as a sample value and updates the sample value when a new current value is transmitted thereto from the current sensor(210). The electronic control unit compares the new sample value and the previous sample value. If current variation between the new sample value and the previous sample value exceeds a predetermined threshold value, the electronic control units determines that the motor(170) has a defect.
