<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system and an operation method thereof which exhibit improved safety when flammable gas is leaked compared with a conventional fuel cell system. <P>SOLUTION: A fuel cell system comprises: a fuel cell 1 which generates power by using fuel gas containing hydrogen; flammable gas paths 4, 17 and 1a including the fuel gas channel 1a in the fuel cell; a cutoff valve 21 which is arranged on the flammable gas path upstream of the fuel cell, and which is blocked when the power generation by the fuel cell is stopped; a housing 11 which houses the fuel cell, the flammable gas paths, and the cutoff valve; a ventilation fan 12 which ventilates the housing; stoppers 51 and 52 which stop the ventilation operation of the ventilation fan with manual operation by an operator; and a controller 10 which is configured to carry out, as long as the ventilation operation of the ventilation fan is not stopped by the stoppers, the ventilation operation when the flammable gas is leaked in the housing. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
