<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost metallic bottomed or closed container usable for sealed batteries such as a secondary battery, and excellent in deformation-resistance and durability. <P>SOLUTION: A method for manufacturing a metallic bottomed or closed container, comprises: joining by double wound tightening one end or both ends of a body composed of a finite length of metal tube having both ends opened, and an entire circumferential side end of a metallic base plate or a base plate and a lid plate, or joining by the double wound tightening the other opening end of a finite length of metallic bottomed container having one end closed and the other end opened, and an entire circumferential side end of a metallic lid plate; then at the double wound tightening portion subjecting lap-weld to the bottom plate or the bottom plate, and the lid plate and one end or both ends of the body.
