A method and system for processing network congestion are disclosed in the embodiments of the present invention. The method includes the steps of: performing, when congestion control for a terminal is started, separation delay control, which is used to delay the time for starting separation operation corresponding to the terminal; and executing a hidden separation operation for the terminal or executing the hidden separation operation and a deactivation Idle mode Signaling Reduction (ISR) operation for the terminal when the time for starting separation operation arrives, wherein a delay value of the time for starting separation operation is equal to or is greater than a period of the congestion control for the terminal. The embodiments of the present invention delay the time for starting separation operation in order to ensure that the hidden separation operation and the deactivation ISR operation for the terminal are not executed at least in the process of the congestion control, thus improving the system efficiency. |
