A blade unit of a safety razor has at least one blade with a sharp cutting edge extending lengthwise of the blade unit. A support structure supports the at least one blade, the support structure having a blade platform structure carrying the at least one blade, a sub-frame, and a base. The sub-frame has a forward edge hingedly connected to the blade platform forwardly of the at least one blade, and a rear edge hingedly connected to the base. First spring elements disposed along the length of th e blade unit act between the sub-frame and the base to urge the blade platform structure away from the base, and second spring elements disposed along the length of the blade unit act between the sub-frame and th e blade platform structure.
