FIELD: physics. ^ SUBSTANCE: particle acceleration apparatus has one or more guide photonic bandgap (PBG) resonator, one or more PBG resonators being capable of generating local resonance electromagnetic fields for accelerating, focusing or directing particle beams of one of a plurality of electrons or a plurality of ions, wherein the accelerated particle beams come out of the PBG resonator.
