<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce occurrence of spatter at the time of the arc start. <P>SOLUTION: An arc welding method which moves a welding torch 15 or a welding object 50 supported by a robot 11 and performs the arc welding using a welding start point T on the welding object 50 as a start point, includes a step S2 of feeding a weld wire 16 to the welding start point T, a step S4 of stopping the feed of the weld wire 16 after a tip of the weld wire 16 is brought into contact with the welding object 50, a step S51 of supplying a pre-arc welding power P1 in a range where no arc is generated to input the heat to the weld wire 16 and the welding object 50, a step of supplying an arc generating welding power P2 which causes generation of an arc Q while retracting the weld wire 16, and a step of supplying the main welding power P4 to perform the main welding.
