The device (SPP) has a breast support (THO) running parallel to a body axis of a lying person (P). The support is positioned on a breast of the lying person and provided for embracing with arms (ARM) of the person. An arm holder (BRC) is pivotably arranged at the breast support and fixes the arms on the breast support. A mechanical coupling element (CPL) i.e. ball-and-socket joint, introduces force application on the device around a pivot axis so that an erecting movement of the person from a dorsal position into a sitting position is supported.
