METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR MONITORING VOLUME USAGE

A method and system for monitoring volume usage are provided. The method includes: when forwarding a monitoring key to a Policy Enforcement Functional Entity (PE-FE), a Policy and Charging Rules Function (PCRF) instructs the PE-FE not to add the volume usage of the Monitoring Key into the session level volume usage. Said technical solution avoids mistakenly adding the volume used for free into the volume usage of an IP-CAN session, and can also provide separate volume usage monitoring on designated service streams in the IP-CAN session, thus meeting the requirements for separate volume usage monitoring.
