NAVIGATION APPARATUS AND OUTPUT METHOD OF HIGHWAY REST AREA REACHING GUIDE INFORMATION THEREOF

PURPOSE: A navigation device and a highway rest area information output method thereof are provided to improve user convenience by displaying expected arrival time and remaining distance to a rest area while driving on a highway. CONSTITUTION: Current location coordinate information of a vehicle driving on a highway is extracted from a GPS(Global Positioning System) satellite(s201). The current position of the vehicle is measured in order to determine a time point when the vehicle will reach a rest area guide information output region(s202). A link which is included in a front highway path before a branch point is successively searched when the time point is determined(s203). The existence of rest areas after passing a first rest area is determined(s204). Rest area guide information for more than one rest areas is outputted at the same time when the rest areas after the first rest area are detected(s205).
