A power acquisition unit configured to acquire electrical power from an external power source, such as a cigarette lighter, for use with an electronic device, is disclosed. The power acquisition unit, in the form of a cigarette lighter adapter, comprises: (a) one or more electrodes to electrically couple to the external power source and receive electrical power from the external power source; (b) one or more conductors electrically coupled to the one or more electrodes and configured to transmit at least a portion of the power received by the one or more electrodes to the electronic device; (c) a housing with an exterior side and enclosing at least a portion of the one or more conductors; (d) one or more springs coupled to the exterior side of the housing; and (e) a stabilizer, which comprises a deformable resilient member, is mechanically coupled to the exterior side of the housing where the housing is mechanically coupled the one or more electrodes.
