Disclosed is a method for batch wise slaking of burnt lime in a slaker (2), comprising the following process steps: - emptying of completely slaked and diluted lime slurry from the slaker (2), until a predetermined residual slurry amount is reached, which is used for mixing with the next batch; - automatic initiation of a control system for automatic operation after reaching a desired slaking temperature of the first batch, which adds diluting water and thereafter burnt lime of a predetermined amount in the following steps; - automatic regulation of the slaking temperature in the next slurry batch, where the relationship between the water and lime is adjusted if the required slaking temperature was not reached in the previous batch, or missed, and where the slaker (2) is completely filled with water for interruption of the slaking if the given maximum temperature is exceeded; and - automatic registration of the slaker's remaining slurry weight amount after completion of lime dosing and following calibration of a load cell aggregate (7) to 0 kg, before the next slaking, characterised in that - to prevent build-up of limestone in the slaker (2), after said lime dosing and said calibration of the load cell aggregate (7), a number of valves (25,26,27) are opened after fixed time periods for addition of flushing water to respective nozzles for immediate cleaning of the slaker (2) before next slaking, in that the flushing water is supplied sequentially via each valve to the associated nozzle(s), until a total predetermined amount of flushing water is reached in the slaker (2). The method produces lime slurry with a greater degree of fineness and prolonged sedimentation time.
