PURPOSE: A manufacturing method of a phenylacetic acid compound is provided to efficiently and easily forming a phenylacetic acid compound. CONSTITUTION: A phenylacetic acid compound is in chemical formula 1. In chemical formula 1, R^1 is a C1-3 aliphatic hydrocarbon radical, R^2 is hydrogen, a C1-3 aliphatic hydrocarbon radical or a cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon radical, R^3 is a C4-10 aliphatic hydrocarbon or cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon radical capable of containing oxygen, A is I or S, n is 0 or 1. A manufacturing method of the phenylacetic acid compound comprises a step of hydrolyzing an acetal-protected haloacetylbenzene compound in chemical formula 2 by heating under the presence of base.
