Provided is a process for producing glass raw material granules, in which any fine powdery material that may cause the fluctuation in the glass composition when it is intended to produce a molten glass or that may cause any defect in the glass is rarely produced, and which can be employed suitably for the production of a glass. The process for producing glass raw material granules is characterized by involving a granulation step of adding boric acid to any one or both of a glass raw material power and an alkaline solution having a pH value of 9 or more and mixing the glass raw material powder with the alkaline solution. It is preferred that the glass raw material powder contains boric acid in an amount of 10 mass% or more.
