<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tracking error signal generating device and a tracking error signal generating method that can, when signal abnormalities have arisen on both of two signals to be compared, appropriately detect the abnormalities. <P>SOLUTION: A tracking error signal generating device 10 has a light receiving element P1 that receives reflected light from an optical disk at a first timing and a light receiving element P4 that receives reflected light from the optical disk at a second timing, which is behind the first timing by an input delay time. An abnormal signal detector 130 determines whether or not any signal abnormality has arisen, on the basis of the fact that, within a prescribed period before or after the point of time when an edge of either a detection signal EQ1 based on an output signal of P1 or a detection signal EQ4 based on an output signal of P4 is detected, the other edge will be detected or not. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
