PURPOSE: A portable terminal and drug-taking alarm method are provided to calculate drug-taking time by using prescription information by recognizing the prescription information. CONSTITUTION: A scanner(110) scans a bar code included in a prescription. The scanner recognizes prescription information. A calculation unit(120) calculates drug-taking time by using the recognized prescription information. An alarm unit(130) informs the drug-taking time to a user by considering of the calculated drug-taking time and current time. The prescription information includes drug-taking information.
