<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a processing apparatus that is applied to roller crowning or crowning super-finishing, that can achieve reduction of processing time and be applied to mass production, and that can be used for small curvature crowning and logarithmic curve shaped crowning, and a processing method used therefor. <P>SOLUTION: The processing apparatus includes: two feed drums 1 and 2 disposed parallel to each other and rotated about center shaft L1 and L2, having continuous spiral guide screw surfaces 4 and 4 on the outer peripheries thereof, respectively, wherein a roller W is brought into contact with and rolled on the mutually opposing guide screw surfaces 4 and 4 of the feed drums 1 and 2 to pass between both feed drums 1 and 2 due to the rotation; and grind-stones for processing crowning parts of the roller W passing between the feed drums 1 and 2. Each of the guide screw surfaces 4 of the feed drums 1 and 2 is divided into two division screw surface parts 4a and 4b aligned in an axial direction to support the outer peripheral surface of the roller W at two positions, one at the front and one at the rear of the roller W. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
