SYNCHRONIZATION ARRANGEMENT FOR A OF THE DISCLOSUREApparatus for developing synchronization of anintermediate layer of signal such as the transport or multiplexlayer of a multi-layered compressed video signal, includes at theencoding end of the system apparatus (13,23,25) for including atime stamp reference, such as a count value from a modulo Kcounter (23), and provision for a differential time stamp whichmay be updated by the transit times of respective (e.g.,multiplexing) circuits as the signal transits such circuits. At thereceiving end of the system a counter (27) is responsive to acontrolled receiver clock signal and the count value of this counteris sampled at the arrival of the time stamps embedded in thetransport layer. The time stamps and the differential time stampsare recrieved from the signal and couthined to form a correctedtime stamp. The differences of successive sampled count valuesof the receiver counter are compared . with the differences ofcorresponding successive corrected time stamps to provide asignal to control the receiver clock signal.Figure 1 |
