<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately determine whether a solenoid valve in a hot water supply machine is malfunctioning. <P>SOLUTION: In the hot water supply machine, when the solenoid valve 75 malfunctions, even if a valve opening signal is output from an electronic control device 80, the solenoid valve 75 will not open. Thus, refrigerant pressure on a discharge port side of a compressor 10 rises rapidly. The temperature of an air heat exchanger 50 reaches a prescribed temperature T2 or lower. Accordingly, after it has been determined as "NO" in step S123, it is decided as being "YES" in step S124, with the detected pressure P by a sensor 81 being a prescribed pressure P2 or higher. Thereafter, in step S125, it is decided as being "YES", that a detected temperature Te by a sensor 82 is lower than the prescribed temperature T2 (<T1).
