The method involves generating differently exposed images as uncompressed raw image data by an image pick-up apparatus i.e. digital camera. A high dynamic range (HDR)-aspect ratio compatible to standard file formats is produced during HDR raw image processing. The HDR aspect ratio is processed by a color space transformation during processing of output color space, where the HDR aspect ratio produced in the HDR raw image processing comprises a standard color model e.g. Adobe red green blue (RGB)model. Tone mapping is reduced via its dynamics to a lower contrast ratio.
