<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water cooled jacket which makes the replacement of refractory and the water cooled jacket unnecessary over many years, and to provide a furnace body cooling structure and a furnace body cooling method using the water cooled jacket. <P>SOLUTION: The water cooled jacket 10 includes: a jacket body 20 having a cooling water passage 11 therein; and a plurality of cooling fins 30 formed to be projected from the surface. Castable refractory 31 is filled in upper and lower clearances for the cooling fins 30 opposite to a slag level 102 and a gas level 103, among the cooling fins 30, and shaped refractory 32 is arranged in the upper and lower clearances for the cooling fins 30 opposite to a mat level 101. Further, the whole part including the top end part of the cooling fins 30 is coated with the castable refractory 33.
