PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roller-shaped protectant supply member having a foam layer that suppresses almost all of the scattering of powder of protectant generated by the rubbing of the protectant, does not require additional consumption of the protectant, and suppresses filming on the image carrier, and others.

SOLUTION: A roller-shaped protectant supply member includes a core material, and a foam layer having cuts from the surface thereof toward the inside thereof. The average depth (A) of the cuts is A≥0.2 mm; the average thickness (B) of the foam layer and the average depth (A) of the cuts satisfy [B-A]≥0.5 mm; and the average distance (C) between the adjacent cuts is 0.3 mm≤C≤5.0 mm.
