<p>A bi-directional braking assembly (10) for a vehicle includes a hydraulic booster assembly (24,26) for applying proportional fluid pressure to a brake assembly (11,13) and is actuated by a forward pedal (16,18). A master cylinder (32,34) actuated by a rear pedal (20,22) communicates fluid to the hydraulic booster assembly (24,26) through a hydraulic booster valve (40). The hydraulic booster valve (40) includes a booster piston (46) movable to regulate hydraulic pressure in response to actuation of first and second plungers (60,62). The second plunger (62) is movable along an axis (41) separate from the first plunger (60) in response to actuation of a master cylinder (32,34) by a rear pedal (20,22). The master cylinder (32,34) provides pressure to the booster valve (40) assembly that acts on an area (88) between the first and second plunger assemblies (60,62) to move the second plunger (62) away from the first plunger (60) to actuate and move the booster piston (46) within the hydraulic booster assembly. <IMAGE></p> |
